This article examines the insights gained from conducting semi-structured interviews online during an ethnographic study in Saudi Arabia from 2001 to 2002. The study aimed to explore the impact of online communities on individuals' participation and how these communities influence the offline culture in Saudi Arabia. Utilizing semi-structured interviews, the study gathered perceptions from 15 participants (8 females, 7 males) about their experiences within online communities. The article provides an overview of Saudi culture before delving into the study's conceptual and methodological framework, the rationale behind choosing online interviews, participant selection, recruitment challenges, interview processes, and data analysis methods. It concludes with a reflection on the lessons learned from employing online semi-structured interviews in this research context.
