This study investigates the impact of online discussion forums (ODFs) on student achievement using a quasi-experimental design at a leading Saudi Arabian university. The sample included 138 undergraduate students divided into an experimental group (67 students) and a control group (71 students). Findings indicate that ODFs positively affect student achievement and reveal significant positive relationships between ODF participation and final course marks, though not with grade point average. The social interaction, collaboration, and active learning in blended courses likely contribute to the increased achievement. However, contextual factors need careful consideration for optimal results.
