This study investigates the effectiveness of online learning for graduate students in gifted education, particularly examining whether online interactions allow for more thoughtful engagement compared to face-to-face interactions. Researchers evaluated the thinking levels of student responses in online discussion forums using Bloom's Taxonomy. Results showed no correlation between the complexity of the prompts and the level of the responses; higher-level prompts did not necessarily elicit higher-level responses. The study also introduces a Rubric for Evaluation of Online Discussions, which can be used both as an instructional guide and an evaluation tool to assess online discussion quality.
