This study investigates how undergraduate students use online forums and Twitter for learning. An anonymous survey (N=50, 54% completion rate) assessed students' general approach to these tools, the types of interactions experienced, and specific uses. Findings show that more students use forums than Twitter, but both tools support learning outcomes by increasing knowledge, understanding, and key skills in different ways. Twitter provides access to news media and external contacts, while forums facilitate peer discussion. A key predictor of tool usage was the perceived impact on grades. Limitations include a small sample size and lack of detail on specific resources and forum structures.
