This paper presents techniques for analyzing consumer sentiment about products on discussion boards, focusing on comparisons between products rather than individual product sentiment. The study introduces methods for extracting relative sentiment and understanding consumer preferences on various attributes. An extended case study of the sedan car market demonstrates how these techniques reveal comparative insights and preferences.
