This study investigates how Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) platforms can support individual learning by analyzing content from MOOC discussion forums, focusing on the cognitive dimension of learning. It reveals how different levels of cognitive engagement relate to learning and explores the moderating role of social interaction in this process. The study emphasizes the importance of considering the interplay between cognitive and social aspects in the design and evaluation of MOOCs.
