This paper presents a game-theoretic model for educational online forums, analyzing student participation based on the instructor's response rate to questions. The model reveals that both overly high and low response rates can hinder student engagement. It distinguishes between single-answer and discussion-style questions, showing that discussion questions can increase response rates with class size, while single-answer questions do not. The findings suggest that mixing question types can enhance overall student response rates in larger classes.
