This paper explores the factors influencing user feedback in online review forums, specifically focusing on Tripadvisor. It examines how reporting incentives and biases impact review accuracy. The study analyzes three types of information: numerical ratings, textual comments, and reporting time patterns. Key findings include: users discussing features in depth tend to agree on ratings, feedback is more likely when perceived transaction risks are higher, and ratings reflect the difference between actual quality and prior expectations. The paper highlights significant differences between mean and median review scores due to biases, suggesting that the median may better represent true quality.
