This study explores the impact of social capital and absorptive capacity on behaviors and performance outcomes within online communities of practice (OCOPs). Based on a survey of 253 participants and qualitative analysis of online postings, the findings reveal that cognitive and structural capital promote exchange and combination behaviors in OCOPs, while relational capital does not have a significant effect. These behaviors, in turn, improve both individual and OCOP performance, with these effects being enhanced by higher levels of absorptive capacity. The study contributes to understanding the dynamics of OCOPs and offers both theoretical insights and practical implications for leveraging OCOPs in knowledge management strategies.
