This article uses a discourse analytic framework to examine an online health forum where users provide mutual support for a medical issue. It explores how digital literacy, informational support, and rapport building are interwoven in user interactions. Key strategies for knowledge sharing and identity construction are identified, highlighting the roles of (1) encouraging interaction, (2) bonding, and (3) attracting suitable dialogue partners. The study shows that skilled users balance knowledge input with emotional support, creating an interplay between informational and affective exchanges.
