This study analyzes forums as organizations that facilitate coordination among various societal sectors, focusing on two key dimensions: sector orientation (how well a forum meets the needs of a specific sector) and advocacy orientation (the extent to which a forum promotes the shared interests of its members). The empirical analysis of 36 forums in Swiss habitat and land use policy reveals significant differences in these orientations, enhancing the understanding of forum outputs, their role in governance, and the motivations for participation.
