This paper examines social recognition, help-seeking, and informal learning patterns in professional Q&A forums across two sectors—Healthcare and Construction—in the UK and Germany. By analyzing these forums, the study identifies patterns used for validating practices, solving problems, and promoting learning. The paper proposes a model for integrating these patterns to enhance informal learning through technology-supported scaffolds and empirically validates a model of social recognition in Q&A forums.
