This study explores cognitive change in online mental health forums by examining peer-to-peer conversations. By defining a "moment of change" based on sentiment shifts and developing a predictive model, the research finds that sentiment and affect markers are key predictors of cognitive change. The study also highlights the impact of cultural differences, noting that models trained in one country often do not generalize well to others, and builds a model to track topic and sentiment evolution within forum threads.
