This study examines how the internet has become a platform for discussing and reconstructing the norms of standard language, traditionally managed through education and institutional publications. It focuses on a platform surpassing institutional spaces for language norm discussions, exploring how social actors engage in defining standard language in forums, and how authority on language use is constructed and accepted despite quasi-anonymous participation. The study sheds light on ideological debates about the Spanish language in non-institutional online forums.
