This study explores the experiences of new mothers participating in an online postpartum forum on Babycenter.com. Involving 393 women, the research utilized descriptive statistics and qualitative content analysis to analyze their responses to open-ended questions about their forum experiences. The participants, mostly Caucasian, married, and living in the U.S., shared insights that were categorized into five themes: social support, anonymity, in-groups, drama, and entertainment/pastime. The study found that online forums can offer substantial social support, information sharing, and a sense of community, but also present potential negatives like "drama." Nurses should recognize both the positive and negative aspects to better support new mothers.
