This study investigates the role of "peer experts" in online health forums—lay users who offer credible advice based on personal experience. By analyzing user profiles and interaction patterns, the research aims to identify characteristics of peer experts. A support vector machine classifier was trained to distinguish peer experts from novice users based on activity levels and semantic features. The findings highlight the potential for enhancing the reliability of information in health forums through the identification of these experts.
