This paper investigates how naïve topic modeling can assist instructors in managing MOOC discussion forums by categorizing discussion threads into topics. This categorization helps provide an overview of discussions, improves forum navigation, and supports effective responses to a representative sample of posts. The study examines four different approaches to applying topic models, evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of each method in aiding instructors.
