This study addresses the gap in research on autonomous vehicles (AVs) by examining public discourse across online communities on Reddit from January 2016 to March 2021. Unlike previous consumer-focused studies, this research adopts a social constructionist perspective to analyze a large dataset of 389,863 posts. It identifies four major discussion streams—Social, Economic, Ethical, and Legal dimensions—providing a comprehensive view of public attitudes towards AVs. The study enhances understanding of AV acceptance and offers valuable insights for policymakers, stakeholders, and social science researchers.
