This article proposes a model to understand and support the longitudinal content contribution in online communities by focusing on the interaction between contributors, participants, and IT artifacts. It highlights the importance of recognizing different types of motivation, particularly autonomous motivation, and introduces a time dimension to content contribution. The study explores how content contribution affects motivation and discusses the potential negative impact of certain rewards on contributors' motivation. It calls for future research to further develop and test this model.
