Action Alleys in Community Design

Recommended Posts

Action Alleys is a marketing concept from retail stores: it refer to the aisles that go around the inside of a store. These walkways are stocked with special sales, discount bins, or samples.

Could contain: Indoors, Shop, Hoodie, Person, Grocery Store, Market, Supermarket, Boy, Child, Male

Action Alleys are high-traffic areas to show off related merchandise, hot buys, and other prominent items as users walk around the store.  It works especially well for discounted items because of the salience bias.

What are the action alleys of online communities (eg. the guided path around the forum)? What kinds of content would you insert, and what kinds of colorful design or formatting would you apply?

Inspired by salience bias.
