This study investigates two online communities of practice (oCoP) for preservice teachers across three main phases. Phase 1 involves designing and developing the online environment, resulting in the creation of the "Professional Development Circle (PDC)" portal. In Phase 2, preservice teachers participate in an online course, discussing real classroom video cases and creating lesson plans. Phase 3 sees the same participants engaging in a different online environment focusing on hot topics in mathematics teaching. Data collection includes written reflections, observations, interviews, and email exchanges, analyzed qualitatively. Activity Theory frames the discussion of design principles and findings, revealing outcomes and discussing motivators and barriers to active participation in oCoP environments.
