This study introduces the "This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things Scale" (TIWWCHNT-20), a questionnaire designed to aid system operators (sysops) in developing online communities by considering users' varying sensitivities to offensive content. It addresses the challenge of managing internet trolling, which has evolved from posting provocative messages for humor to often offensive content, especially in political discussion groups. The scale also allows users to self-evaluate their suitability for participating in specific online communities based on their tolerance levels.
