This paper investigates the role of information communication technologies (ICTs) in supporting knowledge sharing within virtual Communities of Practice (CoPs), focusing on knowledge repositories and online discussion forums. It theorizes how the perceived costs of using these ICTs affect knowledge sourcing. Two event-driven surveys were conducted with CoP members in a consulting firm, capturing data during document downloads and online inquiries. The findings partially support the hypotheses and emphasize the importance of understanding perceived costs in facilitating effective knowledge sharing in virtual environments.
