This study examines how individuals with long-term conditions (LTCs) utilize internet forums for health advice and information. Through semi-structured interviews with 41 participants, findings reveal that the use of online forums is influenced by individual and illness-specific factors. Participants trust peers with similar experiences while also valuing biomedical information, highlighting the complex interplay between personalized support and conventional advice. The role of digital literacy in fostering online relationships is also emphasized.
