This article investigates the participation rates and usage patterns of undergraduate political science students in online discussion forums. It addresses key questions including students' willingness to participate, their enjoyment, factors discouraging participation, the link between forum participation and course grades, and the impact of class size on participation rates. The study focuses on two groups of students taking introductory Irish politics courses at University College Cork, Ireland. It analyzes student feedback on online forums, compares participation levels with course grades, and offers the author's reflections on the effectiveness of online forums in teaching.
