This study explores how a sense of collective identity and culture, or "we-ness," is developed in online, remote contexts, which is both crucial and challenging. Using Wittgenstein's concept of language games, the research examines how participants in two online forums create this collective identity and culture through their discursive practices. The study proposes a strong performative interpretation of language games, where community members generate a sense of we-ness through participation while simultaneously defining expected behaviors and actions. This approach provides a framework for researching and analyzing the emergence of collective identity and culture in online forums.
