This study conducts a systematic review and bibliometric analysis to consolidate research on the ethics and dark side of online communities, which has been widely published but remains fragmented across various journals. Through examining 53 studies, it identifies four thematic groups: information quality, virtual identities, safety, and content within these communities. The analysis reveals significant gaps in the literature and proposes research questions to guide future studies, aiming to provide a comprehensive understanding of the ethical challenges and negative aspects associated with online communities.
