This study examines the concept of pansexual self-identification within online communities, questioning if pansexuality acts as an anti-identity against conservative identity norms and the new-homonormativities embraced by mainstream Western LGBTQ movements. Utilizing a deconstructionist approach from queer theory, this research does not view the anti-identity stance of pansexuality as a performative failure but rather as opposition to traditional, fixed identity constructs and the 'respectable' aspects of new-homonormativities. Through an online survey, the study delves into pansexuality as a flexible and multifaceted identity that challenges binary sex and gender perceptions, employing a collaborative queer methodology that intersects queer theory, sociology, and cyberstudies.
