This paper presents a study conducted within an online community (OC) of pre-service teachers, aiming to understand the relationship between members' motivations for participation, their behavior within the community, and the quality of their learning design contributions. Data from 91 participants were collected through questionnaires, log data from platform usage, and expert assessments of contributions. Contrary to previous findings, the study reveals that behavior and contribution quality are influenced by incentives and platform features rather than self-reported motivations. The results suggest practical implications for teacher OC platforms, emphasizing the importance of features that provide self-awareness indicators about actions and contribution quality.
