This study investigates how women composers utilize online communities of practice (CoP) to navigate and thrive within the male-dominated field of music composition, bypassing traditional hierarchical structures. Through a mixed-methods approach combining an online survey of 225 female composers and 27 in-depth interviews, the research highlights the online environment as a crucial support network offering mentorship, feedback, increased visibility, and career development opportunities, effectively addressing gender-specific challenges in the field.
