This paper discusses the evolution of the 'community' concept, distinguishing between physical and virtual communities, and focuses on intelligent learning within online communities. Utilizing the Wheelan instrument (1999), it evaluates the intelligence of online communities through problem-solving, goal definition, and feedback. The paper concludes with strategies for instructors to enhance learning experiences in virtual communities, including managing transactional distance, fostering social presence, ensuring equality, organizing small group activities, facilitating groups effectively, and considering the learning stage and community size.
