This paper examines Article 12 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, which emphasizes children's right to express their opinions on matters affecting their lives. Despite the UK Government's commitment to empowering young people, a pervasive culture of non-participation in environmental planning persists. The study advocates for greater involvement of children in shaping their environmental future and evaluates efforts to engage them through emerging youth councils and forums.
