This paper explores peer-to-peer online communities for individuals with chronic diseases, proposing a conceptual framework to better understand member needs and the role of these communities in self-managing chronic conditions. The framework, developed from literature and refined through ethnographic case studies, highlights the importance of social and hedonic needs in maintaining engagement. It offers insights into improving chronic disease care management through online community support.
