This study investigates the impact of moderation, response rate, and message interactivity on the intention to participate in web-based online communities through two experiments. The first experiment shows higher participation intent in a moderated community compared to an unmoderated one. The second experiment reveals that interactive messages increase participation intent, particularly when the response rate is slow, suggesting that both interface structure and interaction content significantly influence online community engagement.
