This study investigates the reasons behind users' continued knowledge contributions to online social Q&A communities, drawing on theories of social capital, social exchange, and social cognitive. Utilizing data from a leading Chinese social Q&A platform and employing a negative binomial regression model with user fixed effects, it was found that self-presentation, peer recognition, and social learning significantly encourage users to contribute knowledge. These insights are valuable for enhancing the management and functionality of online social Q&A platforms.
