This study introduces and evaluates a scale designed to measure the perceived quality of online conversations within online communities. Recognizing the significance of these conversations in fostering a sense of community, identity construction, and the sustenance of online and offline social structures, the research aims to shift focus towards the positive aspects of online interactions. Through a survey of 1,276 online community participants, a five-factor structure of conversation quality is proposed and validated using confirmatory factor analysis, alongside assessments of convergent, discriminant, and criterion validity, and reliability. The findings underscore the scale's utility in enhancing the research and comprehension of online communities, while also suggesting potential improvements for the measurement tool.
