This article examines the characteristics and affordances of weblogs and discussion forums as educational tools, highlighting their common features and differences. Using an Educational, Social, and Technological (EST) framework, the paper analyzes how these tools can support learning effectively. It discusses the implications of these affordances on teaching practices and student engagement, emphasizing the importance of choosing the appropriate tool for specific educational purposes.
