Wasko, Teigland, and Faraj (2009) examine how social structure affects the provision of online public goods in an electronic network of practice. They conclude that the topology of the network is critical to the provision of online public goods, and a small number of individuals, referred to as "bridgers," have a crucial role in facilitating the development of public goods.
